Introduction: Santiago de Veraguas Central Avenue shows deteriorated sidewalks, absence of green areas and thermal discomfort. Objective: To contribute to urban design improvement through a bioclimatic and sustainable architectural proposal. Method: Mixed projective, descriptive and cross-sectional research; observation records, a survey of 60 passers-by and climate analysis with Meteonorm, Climate Consultant and sunearthtools were applied. Results: Zero green areas, zero cycle paths and zero sustainable drains, only two trees and deteriorated furniture were recorded; the tropical climate (Am) showed 27.8 °C mean temperature and high radiation. Conclusion: The section-based proposal with more than 300 trees, a cycle path and sustainable drainage integrates the required ventilation and vegetative cooling strategies. Key words: Green areas; Sidewalks; Sustainability; Thermal comfort; Urban design.
